Signia Multi-adaptive Xperience (MaX) introduces system-level artificial intelligence (AI) in hearing aids. We call it Acoustic Intelligence. Utilizing four deep neural networks (DNNs) that work in synergy to optimize the key sound processing technologies offered by the MaX platform, Acoustic Intelligence enables highly adaptive sound processing across a broad range of acoustic environments and elevates speech handling to a new level, particularly in challenging group conversations in background noise. This paper details how Acoustic Intelligence works and optimizes the entire sound processing. We also describe the new eWindScreen 2.0 and SoundSmoothing 2.0 features designed to increase comfort without reducing speech clarity when wind noise and sudden transient sounds appear. All the features contribute to Signia’s overarching goal of preserving speech clarity across all listening situations. We present a series of technical signal-to-noise ratio measurements that demonstrate the performance benefits of the Signia MaX platform in group conversations in noise. These results show substantial improvements offered by MaX compared to its predecessor platform, and they show that MaX outperforms premium hearing aids from key competitors.
