SCIF-Compliant Hearing Aids from Signia

Advanced hearing solutions for secure environments – trusted by professionals, approved for SCIF use.

What is SCIF?

SCIF stands for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities – an enclosed and secure space where classified and sensitive information is processed or handled. These environments require strict control over electronic devices, including hearing aids.

Why SCIF Compatibility Matters

To be compliant in SCIF environments, hearing aids must meet the following criteria:

  • Two-way communication features, like HandsFree or Headset Mode, must be disabled at the firmware level by a licensed Hearing Care Professional (HCP).
  • Firmware updates must not re-enable two-way Bluetooth® communication.
  • Users must not be able to re-enable these features through the hearing aid app or mobile apps.

SCIF-Compliant Signia Products

The following Signia products can be made SCIF compatible through the deactivation of HandsFree or Headset Mode within the Connexx™ fitting software via a Hearing Care Professional.

How to Enable SCIF Compliance (for HCPs only)

Using Connexx software version 9.13.0 or later:

SCIF Default Settings
  1. Navigate to “Configuration > Hearing Aid”
  2. Uncheck/Unselect “Call Control for HandsFree”
SCIF Compliant Settings
This process ensures two-way Bluetooth communication is permanently disabled, making the device SCIF compliant.
