Signia donates to new IHS facility

Mike O’Neil, President of Signia Hearing and Michael Guiden, VP of Sales traveled to Farmington Hill, Michigan to attend the April 30th ribbon cutting ceremony for a new International Hearing Society (IHS) facility.

Signia was one of the largest donors to the new facility, sponsoring the Signia Conference and Learning Center which will be a central part of this prime new meeting location for the entire hearing profession.

O’Neil notes that the new home is an investment in the future. He explains that Signia’s contribution is “fitting to our investment in innovation and learning, and in particular recent breakthroughs in a wearer’s ability to contribute to conversations. Many great conversations will take place in the room we sponsor that will help expand access to more people able to hear their friends and family.”

The Signia Conference and Learning Center features state of the art technology and a modern vibe, offering a variety of room sets to host board meetings, classroom-style trainings, and more. The signature space will draw leaders, volunteers, and members for meetings, education, and so much more!

Commenting on the value of IHS, O’Neil observes, “Patients and the industry benefit from having an advocate, like IHS, to promote hearing health care, and accessibility to it. Particularly in an industry that is so underpenetrated, as well as, to an extent misunderstood in the health care ‘circles.’” He recognizes the admirable history of the IHS, saying that Signia joins with them to contribute to a promising future for the hearing profession.

IHS President Patrick Kochanowski, BS, ACA, BC-HIS, opened the ribbon-cutting ceremony stating, “The bond of providing more people with exceptional hearing healthcare is at the heart of why we are gathered here today. I am so excited to celebrate this outstanding achievement for the Society and what it means to the expansion and protection of the hearing aid specialist profession—which ultimately leads to greater access to hearing healthcare.”

The new international headquarters houses the 73-year-old International Hearing Society that is devoted to the education, advancement, protection, and promotion of hearing healthcare professionals and the services they provide.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of a three-year venture undertaken by the IHS Board of Governors to create a modern facility. The building also houses the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS), the credentialing organization that maintains the board certification for hearing healthcare professionals.
